The BEST Chocolate Chip Cookie

You asked for it on Instagram so here it is!

I originally found the recipe here so check that out! I in no way made this recipe up myself I just used this one as my base!

I don’t want to start a recipe blog post with a big ol’ long paragraph about what chocolate chip cookies mean to me or something like that so all you need to know upfront is that these cookies are AMAZING and SO SOFT. Thats probably my favorite part about them. They are nice and soft but still a solid cookie that you can dip in milk and enjoy.. So without further ado:

I recommend doubling everything below! This specific recipe makes about 9 cookies and that never lasts long in our house!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 tablespoons salted butter

  • 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup white sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (you can use more if you’d like I just prefer fewer chocolate pieces in mine)

  • Cooking pan spray (Pam butter is my favorite)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees while you prepare the cookie dough. Melt your butter in the microwave so it is completely liquid. Let it cool a bit before pouring it into a large bowl. Add in white and light brown sugars. Use a whisk (or stand mixer if you have one) and mix until combined and slightly creamy.

  2. Add in vanilla and egg and mix slowly just until the egg is incorporated. Count to 10 in your head and that should be as long as it takes. This step is VERY IMPORTANT. If you mix too long the cookies will not be that perfect soft consistency.

  3. Next add in your flour, baking soda and salt. Mix these until the crumbly dough begins to form. Use your hands to knead it all into a giant ball. At this point it should be perfect consistency! Not too wet or too dry. Now fold in the chocolate chips with your hands until they are pretty even throughout the giant ball.

  4. Split into 9 even smaller balls and place on lightly sprayed cookie sheet evenly spaced apart. Bake for about 9-10 minutes. You’ll want to watch them closely though so that they don’t overcook. You want that nice soft cookie after all! They are more than likely going to look like they are not done but I promise you they are! They should be pretty puffy and just barely golden.

  5. Once out of the oven, let them sit ON THE PAN for half an hour. As they sit they will become a nice dense, soft, perfect cookie!

  6. Enjoy!
